Hi!
I'm pretty new to blogspot - I've had a blog just for kid photos for family on xanga for a few years, but only recently started blogging just for myself! Looking forward to a little more know-how.
Some blogs I follow have recently moved to Wordpress. So, what's the difference? Is one better than the other? Are there benefits to blogspot that wordpress doesn't have?
There are just minor differences between blogspot and wordpress. The general conception that wordpress themes are better than blogspot makes people shift to wordpress-now free XML themes are available for blogspot too.
Commenting in wordpress is a little hassle free(you don't need a Google account) unlike blogspot; but most comments in wordpress are being spammed-which doesn't make it appear on their blog.
So, in comparison there isn't much of a difference!
I agree with Joel. I blog on blogspot and my husband does so in wordpress, so I can compare easily.
The "general concept" regarding the themes is wrong - blogspot offers very impressive themes now and they update them regularly.
Regarding the comments, it drives me crazy sometimes when I comment on my friends' wordpress blogs and they don't receive anything 'coz my comments go straight to spam...
The only thing I don't like is that when you upload photos on your blogspot, whatever layout you choose (left, right, center) they go all over the place in a rather random order. This is why I prefer links to the photos' URL.
I have both a blogger account and wordpress account. I prefer wordpress to blogger. Blogger is ok if the blog is simple, but you can't have more than one page so for my more professional blog, I use wordpress. I may wind up importing my blogger site to wordpress. The only advantage blogger has that I can see is it allows certain widgets to be displayed.
I think it is easier to manage comments in wordpress because I can post the recent comments in the sidebar, whereas on blogger, I can get an email alert when someone comments, but my readers can't necessarily see when new comments have been posted.
yeah, maybe wordpress does give the professional look to a blog. It is possible to make a blogger blog look professional, but dealing with the HTML codes in blogger can be a bit bothering!
