Vigil at the Top

Currently I am keeping the following in my thoughts & prayers:

-----Estelle Getty's family....RIP,Estelle. Lewy Body Dementia does not sound like an easy thing to cope with...and is something the public should be educated on.
-----Patrick Swayze...who seems to be doing well with his cancer treatments. Recently, Mr. Swayze has said that he is a miracle.
-----This restaurant cracked and had to be demolished....yes, you read that right. The restaurant was the owner's livelihood and he was not able to retrieve anything from the building. I have been searching but have not been able to find out how things are going for this man and his employees. I have e-mailed the Sydney Morning Herald asking them to follow up on this story.
-----The search for survivors....carbon monoxide gas poisoning at a Chinese coal mine. 21 dead so far. I have not found any further news coverage of this (since July 6)...I hope that there were no further victims (and, of course, that more survivors were found).
-----John Challis, a young man who is fighting hard against liver cancer. He is fighting harder than anyone I have ever read about. His story made me cry.
-----Amy Winehouse has emphysema. From what I understand, it is in the beginning stages. I am worried for Amy's father, who has been taking care of her, has been having panic attacks (and actually collapsed).
-----Tornado in China (June 22)....several injured, one dead and many have to be relocated.
-----Funny Car racer Scott Kalitta has died in a terrible accident.
-----Flood recovery in the Midwest
-----The city of Vallejo, California has need to file bankruptcy.
-----The family and friends of Maria Sue Chapman (daughter of Steven Curtis Chapman). Maria was only 5 and died in a tragic accident.
-----Another Terri Schiavo-like case. This has been no where near as long, she is not brain dead, not on respirators or anything like that and had a baby after her injury. Her name is Lauren Richardson. Terri Schiavo's brother speaks about Lauren's case.
-----Kristy Dykes, author and fellow blogger, has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Recently, the doctors said that she only has months left and she is being cared for by Hospice...it seems that she is getting sicker VERY quickly. Kristy is being very brave. I encourage people to leave supportive comments on her blog...for Kristy and her family/loved ones.
-----Heather is fighting very hard against brain cancer.
-----A beautiful baby named Kayla passed away after a valiant struggle with cancer. On her Myspace there are details of various campaigns on her behalf for Childhood Cancer Awareness/Research/Cures...please visit.
-----Jenny Lloyd, a little girl who has a rare disease where she can be literally scared to death.
-----The family and friends of Lorraine Allard. Lorraine passed away after delaying cancer treatment in order to give birth to her son.
-----That Madeleine McCann is found soon.
-----Heath Ledger's little daughter...who will grow up without her Daddy. :-(

Note:
This post is in no particular order. Prayer/thought requests just go to the top as I hear more about what is going on. If you can think of a way to help these people, PLEASE do so. This post will be second-from-the-top during the midst of an emergency (such as an Amber Alert).

I also keep a very Personal Vigil at times (for those I know outside of the news and the Blogosphere). If you are on here, be warned that I will be an excessively-huggy-encouragey-person and we will get through this. :-)

-----Amazing sink
-----"The Skinny on Sodium Lauryl Sulfate"...a common ingredient in many beauty products. Is this an ingredient you avoid??

Coming along well....this is an activity that you can sign up for every month. I WILL be an Iron Commenter. :-)

http://www.infinityrugs.com/...Persian rugs,Oriental rugs and hand-knotted rugs. Oh, and of course, area rugs....I am obsessed with area rugs. :-)

Brands like:
Calvin Klein
Candice Olson
Nourison
Hellenic...I am looking at something from the Milan collection.
Surya
Momeni

Infinity offers many of the most popular rug fashions.

Two of the best rug collections on the market are Nourison 2000 and Hellenic Private Reserve...both of are carried by Infinity. Nourison 2000 and Hellenic Reserve are area carpets (my favorite kind)...made with the best wool available. Both rug types are densely hand-knotted (enhances the feel and thickness). They should last a very long time. :-) I am thinking of one of these two as a Christmas present for someone I know that is also rug-happy.....need to look through and see if there is anything suitable.

There are over 30,000 rugs....but Infinity tries to make it as easy as possible to sort it all out and find what you are looking for. That is one of the things that impresses me....ease of navigation on the website (a lot of rug companies don't have that).

Rugs that are hard to get are Infinity's specialty. Though there are a lot of rare finds, Infinity also keeps a large quantity of regular stock...which can be shipped pretty quickly (usually a few days).

Hand-knotted rugs....many of which look heirloom. :-)

Infinity is owned by Plaza Rugs (a company that I have blogged about before). Both Infinity Rugs and Plaza Rugs place an emphasis on good service.

Of course, I always get excited when companies offer free shipping. :-) There is also a 30-day guarantee and price-matching. No restocking fees and no sales tax. Plus, an easy return process. I am VERY IMPRESSED by the emphasis on making it easy for the customer.

Designers, etc. will be happy to know:
Infinity OFTEN helps designers to help find floor coverings for their projects. Commercial projects (including hotels and offices) are welcome. The company can be called for special-trade only deals. :-)

Movie Reviews

I found this quiz on Angelika's blog. I have been intending to write a list of all the movies that I would like to purchase and put it in my purse...that way I can pick them up as I come across them.

What will be on the list. First of all, believe it or not, I have never seen "Casablanca" all the way through.

Speaking of movies, the "Escape from New York" remake with Gerard Butler ("300") still seems to be coming along...it now has an Internet Movie Database page. I am annoyed that the development page can only be viewed with the Pro version of IMDB....very annoyed.
